Dr. Jim Adams

Jim Adams MD, FACC is Level 3 certified and has over fifteen years of experience with cardiac CTA  (CCTA).  He was a very early adopter of EBCT technology and worked for many years as a CTA Training Consultant at Imatron, Inc. and as Medical Director of HeartScan San Francisco.  There he worked for over ten years with Dr. Doug Boyd to pioneer new cardiac CTA protocols using the latest technology and was the first to do 4-D cine CT angiograms.

He has performed thousands of cardiac CT angiograms and has lectured nationally and internationally on cardiac CTA applications.   In 2005 he was on the founding board of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). He was also a founding member of the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and Prevention (SAIP) and much earlier of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE).  Dr. Adams is currently board certified in Cardiac CTA, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and lipidology.

Dr. Adams attended UC Berkeley, UCLA Medical School, and did all of his post graduate medicine and cardiology training at UC San Francisco, where he remains on the clinical faculty.

Besides being in full time private practice, Dr. Adams is strongly interested in promoting to other clinicians a fuller understanding of all of the technical aspects and clinical usefulness of cardiac CTA imaging techniques.  His practice has very successfully integrated cardiac CTA scanning into all of its offices and has the latest IT capabilities.

Besides his clinical and teaching activities, Dr. Adams is also available for individual consulting and training on issues related to cardiac and cardiovascular imaging center development.
